5 Weeks

It's time...we've listed the puppies. One has a home already and will be picked up next weekend, his name is "Nate." We're really happy with his new owners, they already have another dog and a duck (for the time being)! He's going to be a surprise, I can't wait to hear how it turns out.

They've settled into their pen for eating and sleeping, and they spend their days romping around the backyard and napping in the sun. Here's the latest shots, they are all in the basket, one's hiding :)

Keoni Update

Keoni is the puppy featured in our Blog Title. He had the sweetest disposition of the puppies in Tiki's first litter. He was always happy and content! We were so excited to see this picture and get an update from his owners. He looks so loved and well-cared for!

Here's a little note from his family...
My wife and I are very proud of Keoni. We cannot go anywhere without people wanting to take pictures with him. He is an amazing dog, and could not be happier with him. In fact his name means gift from God, and after purchasing him my wife became pregnant with our first child. He is awesome and loves people, especially kids, snowboarding, and has the sweetest heart. He was house broken in literally two days, and we have not had a problem with him wrecking the house. Our only issues with him have been skin due to him being a white dog, but all were minor. Thank you so much, we could not be more pleased with him!!!

Four Weeks

This is a big milestone week for the pups. They move into their new digs in the puppy pen and start eating real food. Right now they've outgrown the basket, so they've only been sleeping there. You can see in the picture that Tiki is probably done nursing them...between their sharp nails and teeth, it can't be comfortable! They love to play with each other and with toys. It's so fun to watch them!

One Week Old

Here they are at one week. They grow so fast! It's fun to watch. I know I'm late posting their progress, I'll try to be more on top of it. A couple have opened their eyes, so look forward to some cute two week shots!

THEY'RE HERE!!!

Tiki's puppies were born this morning...3 girls and 2 boys! Mom and the puppies are doing just fine.

Update on Lucy

Tiki only had one female in her first litter and we were so pleased she went to live with our good friends. She definitely has a cush life! Here's a couple shots of her as a puppy and now. What a sweetheart! Here's what her 0wners have to say...

Lucy (our little Bulldog) found us last October and is now almost 9 months old. I have to admit we were apprehensive about bringing a puppy home with our 4 kids (one of which was terrified of dogs until he met Lucy and another only 6 months old), but she fit in beautifully. Our youngest son wouldn’t go near dogs before we had Lucy, but with her gentle disposition she has helped him get over his fear; I couldn’t believe my eyes when he was proudly petting “Ace” the Great Dane at the Dog Park!

As for the kids, Lucy has taught them the value of work and caring for a pet. They have been helpful in cleaning up after her, feeding, bathing, walking and playing fetch. They give her kisses goodnight and adore her.

She is not much of a barker or whiner (even in her crate), but she is loud in other ways – snoring. When we first got her, I didn’t think she was much of a watch dog since she never barked, but when landscapers came to close to our side door, she ran right over to me and barked at them. I guess she proved me wrong.

We have a dog trainer that has worked with us over the past few months and she takes instruction very quickly. She is smart and is always looking to please us. We are trying to teach her how to skateboard, but not really successful at that yet. She does sit, shake, lay down, stay (for a very long time) and come. She also only eats when we snap our fingers, so that she doesn’t eat food fallen onto the floor without permission and does well at staying on our property lines without a leash.

We often take her for car rides (which she loves) and she hasn’t gotten sick yet. Lucy isn’t much of a chewer by puppy standards, we just make sure to see when she wants to chew and play fetch, a few minutes of that wears her out. She and I love to run together, although they aren’t built for it, so I don’t recommend it, so we have taken up walking instead. She is not a good swimmer, but always stays close by us while we are in the pool.

When I first saw Tiki, I was impressed by what a good looking bulldog she was, and I know that the parents are very important when choosing this breed. Lucy’s tongue does not stick out and her wrinkles aren’t too deep (no foul smell whatsoever). Our vet also commented on her being one of the best built bulldogs she had ever seen.

After having Lucy in our home, I would never want to own a different breed of dog. She knows how to play, but has never once been rough with our little 1 year old daughter, even when she pokes her in the eyes or pulls her whiskers, Lucy will take it for a while, but when she is through, she simply gets up and walks away. She is truly a joy in our home and part of our family forever.
